In a move that has left fans and critics alike buzzing, Nick Cave has officially announced a surprise U.S. tour titled “The Vault” a limited series of intimate shows that will showcase unreleased material from his extensive archive, alongside stripped-down versions of fan favorites.
The announcement came early Monday morning through Cave’s official website and his popular Red Hand Files newsletter. With little warning, the legendary Australian singer-songwriter revealed that he would be embarking on a coast-to-coast tour across the United States this fall. The tour marks his first U.S. solo appearances since 2022 and promises to be unlike anything he’s done before.
“There are songs that have been waiting in the dark unfinished letters, whispered confessions, forgotten dreams,” Cave wrote. “It felt like the right time to open the vault, revisit the ghosts, and share them in spaces where every word can breathe.”
The Vault Tour will offer a rare glimpse into Cave’s creative world, featuring songs that never made it to previous albums, as well as raw, reimagined versions of classics from his vast discography from the early Bad Seeds days to more recent works like Ghosteen and Carnage.
Each show will be set in smaller, atmospheric venues theatres, churches, and opera houses creating a setting that matches the introspective and haunting tone Cave is known for. This intimate format echoes the spirit of his acclaimed Conversations With Nick Cave tour, but with a deeper musical focus.
The tour is set to begin on September 14 at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles and will include stops in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, and Austin, among others. The final show is currently scheduled for October 12 at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre.
Only 12 dates have been announced, intensifying the demand for tickets. Longtime collaborator Warren Ellis is expected to join for select performances, though no official supporting acts have been named.
According to Cave’s team, the setlist will draw from a collection of unreleased material pulled from studio sessions spanning over two decades. This includes outtakes from The Boatman’s Call, demos from Push the Sky Away, and songs written during the isolation of the COVID pandemic.
Fans can also expect Cave to perform spoken-word interludes and possibly share the inspiration or personal background behind certain unreleased tracks something that has become a signature aspect of his more recent performances.
In his announcement, Cave described the project as “not just a tour, but an excavation a kind of musical

Nick Cave’s music has always dwelled in the space between darkness and light, loss and redemption. With The Vault Tour, he invites audiences to step deeper into his creative world not just as listeners, but as witnesses to stories still unfolding.
In an era of overproduced stadium shows and digital detachment, Cave’s upcoming performances promise something rare: a raw, soul-stirring encounter with art in its most human form.
For those lucky enough to secure a seat, The Vault may not just reveal the songs we’ve never heard but the parts of ourselves we’ve forgotten to listen to.
