TUSCALOOSA, AL — In a move that extends their legacy far beyond the gridiron, legendary coach Nick Saban and his wife, Terry Saban, have announced a transformative $75 million donation to the University of Alabama. The unprecedented gift will fund “The Process Center,” a state-of-the-art mental health and leadership facility designed to serve the entire student body, not just athletes. The announcement was made this morning at a press conference on the university’s campus, attended by university officials, current and former student-athletes, and members of the local community.
The Sabans’ donation, one of the largest private gifts in the university’s history, aims to create a holistic support system for students facing the pressures of modern academic and social life. The facility will be a central hub for a wide range of services, including one-on-one and group counseling, stress management workshops, leadership development seminars, and mentorship programs. “The Process Center” is named after Saban’s famous philosophy of focusing on the small, daily steps that lead to long-term success, a principle he believes is critical for all students, not just those on the field.
“Terry and I have always believed that true success is about more than just winning on Saturdays,” said Nick Saban.
“It’s about building great people, and that starts with their well-being. The pressures on young people today are immense, and we want to provide a place where every student can get the support they need to navigate those challenges. We call it ‘The Process’ because it’s about the daily commitment to improvement, in your mind, your spirit, and your leadership skills.”
The new center will be strategically located near the heart of campus, making it easily accessible to all students. The building’s design will feature modern, calming architecture, with private consultation rooms, dedicated spaces for meditation and mindfulness, and technology-equipped classrooms for leadership training. The facility is expected to be a model for universities nationwide, integrating mental health services with practical life skills education.
University President Stuart R. Bell expressed his profound gratitude for the Sabans’ generosity. “Nick and Terry Saban’s legacy at the University of Alabama is already cemented in athletic history, but this gift is a testament to their commitment to our entire university family,” said President Bell.
“This facility will be a game-changer, providing essential resources that will help our students thrive academically and personally. It is an extraordinary act of philanthropy that will benefit generations of students to come.”
Terry Saban, a long-time advocate for student welfare through the Nick’s Kids Foundation, highlighted the importance of a comprehensive approach to student wellness. “We have seen firsthand how much young people struggle with anxiety, stress, and the search for their purpose,” she said.
“We hope this center will be a sanctuary for them, a place where they can learn to lead themselves before they lead others. It’s about empowering them with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives.”
Construction on “The Process Center” is slated to begin in late 2026, with an estimated completion date in 2029. The Sabans’ donation covers the full cost of the building, ensuring that it will be built to the highest standards, reflecting their long-standing commitment to excellence.
While Saban’s name is etched on multiple national championship trophies, this donation ensures his “process” will continue to shape the lives of Alabama students long after his coaching days. It is a powerful final act of a legendary career, one that transcends wins and losses and speaks directly to the human spirit.
