Brooks Robinson, who passed away in September 2023 at the age of 86, spent his entire 23-year MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles. Often referred to as “Mr. Oriole,” he was an 18-time All-Star, 16-time Gold Glove Award winner, and the 1964 American League MVP. He helped lead the Orioles to two World Series titles and earned a reputation as the greatest defensive third baseman the game has ever seen.

More than just a phenomenal player, Robinson was revered for his integrity, sportsmanship, and enduring connection to fans. He remained an ambassador for the Orioles and the sport of baseball long after his retirement, becoming a symbol of consistency and class in an ever-changing sports landscape.

Netflix’s decision to spotlight Robinson’s story comes as part of the streaming giant’s continued push into sports storytelling, particularly focusing on figures whose impact transcended their athletic achievements. Executive producers have described the project as a “labor of love,” driven by the desire to immortalize Robinson’s contributions to the game and the lives he touched.

“Brooks was the kind of person who made everyone feel like a friend,” said one of the film’s directors. “This documentary isn’t just about his accolades it’s about his humanity, the way he inspired teammates, and the quiet dignity with which he carried himself.”

Fans of baseball and beyond can look forward to the emotional and inspiring premiere of “Brooks: The Human Vacuum Cleaner” in June 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
