The NBA star, Derrick White, was born on July 2nd, 1994, and is an American professional basketball player who is currently playing for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association, NBA.

White, also known as Buffalo, played three years of college basketball in the Division II league for the Colorado Springs Mountain Lions and, in his final year of eligibility, for the Division I’s Colorado. The San Antonio Spurs drafted White with the 29th pick of the 2017 NBA draft.

He was transfered to the Celtics in February 2022 and was one of its key contributors to the 2022 NBA Finals. White was the starter of the team’s 2022-23 season as well as an NBA All-Defensive team choice of that season and the second consecutive one for the next season as well.

White also reached that same level of potential at Colorado, Colorado Springs. With that kind of athleticism and size, White was an excellent player at UCCS, playing in every contest in his three years there and departed as the school record holder in points (1,912) and assists (343). White, in his final year, scored an average of 25.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists for the Mountain Lions, leading them into the 2015 NCAA tournament.

He was an All-American. White played one year with Tad Boyle at Division I’s Colorado to face off against the Pac-12 Conference, one of the country’s top conferences, following his junior year. White redshirted his freshman year of 2015-16 due to NCAA rules, and he remained on campus at the Buffaloes for just one year before his breakout year, where he scored an average of 18.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game.

White also made it to the five-player all-defensive team and as a first-team All-Pac-12 selection. In White’s professional career, White was one of 60 NBA prospects to be invited to the 2017 NBA Draft Combine.

He is one of only 15 Combine invitees not to be one of the top 150 high school recruits and one of three to not sign at the Divisionison I level directly coming from high school that season. White is one of only players to pay back student loans on an NBA contract as a freshman player. White was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2017 NBA draft, 29th overall pick.
