Rock fans, brace yourselves: Dave Grohl is hitting the road in 2025 with what’s being called his most ambitious tour yet. Titled “Thunder on Tour,” the global trek will span five continents, dozens of cities, and promises to be a thunderous celebration of Grohl’s decades-long legacy as one of rock’s most electrifying performers.
The tour was officially announced in a live-streamed event on Grohl’s social media channels, where he appeared on stage with his signature grin, guitar in hand, and a wall of amps behind him. “I’ve got a lot of loud left in me,” he told fans. “We’re bringing the noise everywhere stadiums, arenas, festivals. Let’s blow the roof off the world together.”
The tour kicks off in May 2025 in London, followed by stops in Berlin, Paris, São Paulo, Tokyo, Sydney, Johannesburg, and New York, among many others. This isn’t just a Foo Fighters tour though they’re expected to headline many dates but a collaborative celebration of Grohl’s full career. The setlists will reportedly feature hits from Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures, and several never-before-played deep cuts. Special guests and surprise appearances are also expected, with speculation already swirling about possible onstage reunions and collaborations.
“Dave wants this tour to feel like a living history of rock,” said tour manager Janice Mitchell. “It’s not just a concert it’s a high-voltage story, told in real time, through drums, sweat, and guitars.”
The announcement comes as Grohl approaches the 30-year mark since the release of Foo Fighters’ debut album, and nearly four decades since he first pounded the drums with Nirvana. Known for his tireless energy and deep love for live performance, Grohl has built a reputation as one of rock’s most passionate showmen and this tour looks set to cement that legacy.
Tickets go on sale next Friday at 10 a.m. local time, with pre-sale options available to fan club members and newsletter subscribers. VIP experiences, exclusive tour merch, and backstage access packages will also be available through select platforms.
